Program Highlights
Leading Scientific Research Institution Visits | Marine Technology & Engineering Innovation | Tropical & Coastal Ecosystem Exploration | Naval Culture & Maritime History | Hands-on STEAM Projects | UN SDGs General Education Practice
This five-day immersive program takes place in Qingdao, a city deeply connected with ocean culture, marine technology, and national maritime development.
Centered on the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the program integrates ocean science, engineering innovation, marine ecology, and cultural exploration into a comprehensive international classroom on the move.
Participants will:
• Visit leading institutions including Shandong University, Harbin Institute of Technology (Qingdao), and the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology
• Explore marine biodiversity through intertidal zone observation and coastal ecosystem studies
• Engage in hands-on STEAM activities such as water rocket design and launch, educational submersible workshops, and flight simulation practice
• Experience sailing at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center and learn about sustainable marine urban development
• Visit the PLA Naval Museum to understand maritime history, national defense, and the evolution of modern naval technology
• Participate in structured SDGs General Education modules covering global development, engineering innovation, sustainable technology, and life below water
Through interdisciplinary learning, scientific inquiry, and real-world application, students develop systems thinking, problem-solving skills, global perspective, and sustainable leadership capacity—empowering them to become future ocean advocates and sustainability leaders.
Upon completion, students will receive a Comprehensive Practical Activity Certificate and an SDGs Practice Certificate under the PEPPA framework.
